We slept at Honey Bear Campground and it was chili but nothing compare to the night of Day 6 to Day 7. We had planned to go to Grandfather Mountain but we have no time. Today we need to make it to the Cottage therefore we decided to at least drive by the Grandfather Mountain:-) … we took the 105 to get there…
We rode again through the Blue Ridge Parkway towards Asheville. The ride was amazing nice and curvy.
Believe it or not we saw a lot of cyclist along the way…these ones here are recuperating from their last uphill 🙂
We passed by a lot of tunnels, like these ones…
We passed by an small place called “Little Switzerland”.
Then stopped in Asheville for lunch.
Asheville is really hip cute little city. We walked around downtown, had amazing lunch, bought truffles at the “Chocolate Fetish” and continued our way towards the Cottage.
The ride from Asheville to the end of the parkway was the best. We decided to change our route back home to ride this section again.
Somewhere on the way we found a bunch of cars parked on the side of the parkway, we stopped to find out what was going on…it turn out everybody left their cars and went for hiking on the trails.
Here are more beautiful views….
We are both a bit stressed out and we still have a lot to ride to get to the cottage, we do not want to get there after dark.
This is not a great photo but it capture the last milestone of the Blue Ridge Parkway, marking 469 miles (755 Km) of windy beautiful road with no stop sign or any traffic lights.
It was just before 8:00 pm when we made it to the cottage, we were exhausted…Wow the cottage is great… I will tell you about the cottage on the next post.
