After yesterday’s storm we were expecting the bike to be soaked and also we were wondering what are we going to do about the outside of the tent, however to our surprise everything was dried (thank you wind). We packed everything and headed to the park’s restaurant for breakfast.
We continue the ride from mile 51 towards mile 84-87 Peaks of Otter.
Half way to our destination we decided to stop at Waynesboro.
Waynesboro is a city that is at the end of the Skyline Drive. We found this camping store where we bought some stuff that we were missing; you know: flashlight, camping food, etc.
We stopped at a Starbucks for free internet.
We checked online for campsite at Peaks of Otter, but they told me that there were no sites available however they do have spots for “walk ins” so we decided to risk it and headed there anyways. We had lunch at Pizza Hut, filled up the tank and headed towards the Blue Ridge Parkway towards mile 84.
The ride through the parkway was a lot faster, speed limit of 45 mph ( 70 km/h) and it was gorgeous.
Today we were late on our schedule, it was around 7:00pm when we got to Peaks Of Otter Campgrounds which was Closed, I guess the reservation line was not up to date. So we had no choice but to head toward the closest motel which was in Bedford. As soon as we got the room and put all the stuff in, the sky fell down again
…and so here we are no camping for us tonight.
