ride map June 21

Another nice and warm day to ride, while the weather is good there is time for some chain maintenance and where better than behind a Candian Tire!

Since last night mosquitoes were eating me, I decided to try something different.  It should work only while stationary.  It will not work while walking around. I will see.

Couple of stops for photos on the way.

in one of the islands on the way to lighthouse, there was a board walk in a Peat Bog.
Apparently the farming of Peat was becoming huge so now they are conserved and there is only very limited spaced allowed for farming.

And finally the Miscou Island Lighthouse

I decided to eat in the restaurant in there, obviously being beside ocean the main food is fish! but restaurants should learn to be a little more creative with their vegetarian menu! It’s not that difficult.  Here few shots from inside the restaurant, not the food though.

There was a couple in restaurant that one of them were born in Miscou Island, she was saying there few hundreds of people living in the island back then when there was no bridge and there was only ferry and in winter, they would even drive on ice.  And after the bridge was built, most people just left the island!  Here is the bridge.

In this trip I was hoping to see those colorful houses in small villages beside water that I always see in tourism advertisement in TVs, but instead I saw these colorful boats in a shipyard.

Few more nice scenery on the way.

Finally the Camping Malybel, It’s a typical RV camping park with very few tent spot in a corner.  But since I’m the only one setting up tent, It’s kind of private for me 🙂

Unlike the campsite from last night this one was full of RVs that stay for longtime, so much that they have permanent addition to their RV and the campsite.  I think this is their cheap way of avoiding rent or buying a house!
I was disappointed as I could not find electrical outlet to charge my stuff not even in laundry room, there was only one in the washroom and I did not want to leave my camera and phone there for long time with so many people around.
Here are few examples of people living here with their RVs:

And the new mosquito repellent seems to be ok, but I didn’t sit still for longtime anyway, need more testing!

Day 5: 320km
